What we store about you

You can browse and search the whole board without an account, and without giving us anything. Everything below applies only once you sign in or send us something.

  • Your account — email address and name, held by our sign-in provider (Clerk). We store only the account identifier it gives us.
  • Your CV — the file you upload, plus the plain text extracted from it, plus the research interests we derive from it. This is the one thing here that is likely to contain a lot about you, so it is worth being specific: we keep it in order to score postings against your background, and for nothing else.
  • Your decisions — which postings you kept, dismissed, flagged as interested, or marked applied; which regions and fields you selected.
  • What you send us — submitted links, problem reports, feedback, and an email address if you choose to leave one.
  • Anonymous usage — a random identifier in a cookie, used to count visitors and returning visitors, and to record which postings get opened. It is not tied to your account unless you are signed in.

Where it is stored

  • Database: Neon (PostgreSQL), provisioned through Vercel.
  • Uploaded CV files: Vercel Blob, in private storage — the files are not publicly readable and have no shareable URL.
  • Hosting and request logs: Vercel.
  • Sign-in: Clerk.

Who else sees it

We do not sell anything, and we do not share your data for advertising. Three services receive data because they are needed to run a specific feature:

  • Anthropic, via the Vercel AI Gateway — when you ask us to read your CV, its text is sent to a language model to extract your research interests. This is the only time your CV leaves our own storage. Matching itself runs in your browser and sends nothing anywhere.
  • Resend — sends notification emails, for example when a link you submitted is used.
  • Clerk — handles sign-in and holds your email address.

Cookies

Two, both first-party and both set for 180 days. One records which platform you first arrived from, so we can tell whether a post somewhere actually brought people here. The other is a random identifier used to count unique visitors rather than raw page views. Neither is used for advertising, and neither is shared with anyone.

Deleting your data

You can delete everything we hold about you from your account page. That removes your profile, your uploaded CV file, the extracted text, your interests and your saved postings. It is immediate and it is not recoverable.

Anonymous, aggregate records — a visit counted on a particular day, a click counted against a posting — are not attached to your account and are not removed, because there is nothing in them that identifies you.

If you would rather ask us to do it, or you want a copy of what we hold, email morrowaiteam@gmail.com.

About the job listings

The postings on this board are collected from institutions' own careers and faculty pages. Each one links to the original, which is always the authoritative version and the place to apply. If you are an employer and you would like a posting removed or corrected, email us and we will do it.
